Quick Pizza Crust
Kim's best friend Chelsea taught us how to make this. It's incredibly fast and easy, and we've used it to make breadsticks too. We like using BBQ sauce, tomato paste, or marinara sauce for the pizza. We don't precook our toppings (garlic, onion, bell pepper, Field Roast sausage, fresh basil, or jalapeños), and it always cooks well. We have "rolled out" the dough with just our fingers before, but a rolling pin, water bottle, or wine bottle work better.
Ingredients
Cooking
Ingredients
- 1 packet Instant Dry Yeast or 2 1/4 tsp
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 1/2 cups flour + additional for flouring hands and pan
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Cooking
- Add yeast, sugar, and warm water to bowl
- Let sit for 10 minutes or until milky looking
- Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to bowl, make a hollow at the top, and fill with olive oil
- Flour hands, then mix with hands and knead until it stops sticking (I always need to add more flour to get the right texture; add 1 tbsp at a time)
- Cover bowl with light towel or cloth and let sit for 20 minutes
- Divide in half to make two crusts
- Dust pan or pizza stone with flour, then roll out pizza dough and add toppings
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until crust rises and turns golden brown
